Welcoming challenges is the pathway to personal growth. It’s where the magic is, and it’s where the acceleration is.
Most people want support, so they attract challenges to themselves. If you are constantly searching for peace, happiness, and bliss, I can almost guarantee that you have chaos in your world in some form.
We are here to grow, achieve more, and become more. But let’s be honest, binge-watching TV, however satisfying it might be in the moment, doesn’t get us there. While the easy path is tempting, it only delays the inevitable work that we know leads to real progress.
Accelerating Success and distraction
And, I get it—I’ve gone down the same rabbit holes. I’ve been scrolling through Instagram, signing up for courses, and watching what everyone else is doing. It’s easy to get lost in the noise—seeing cute things to send to my daughter for my grandson, discovering all these new recipes I didn’t know I needed, and finding creative ways to make money online. But while it can be fun, it’s very distracting. They’re doing their thing, and we’re sitting here watching it. I don’t have a magic solution to avoid this scenario except for setting boundaries. The ‘bossy me’ sets alarms to snap out of it and avoid getting too far down the social media rabbit hole.
Challenges keep us on track.
Challenges are what really keep us on track. Setting challenges and having support are like the yin and yang of personal growth. Both are essential for thriving. When we prioritise ourselves by setting meaningful challenges and deadlines, we navigate our journey with more confidence – in ourselves.
Recently, while upgrading my qualifications with the Demartini Institute, I had to set real deadlines and say no to distractions. It wasn’t always fun, but it was worthwhile. I had to stay mindful of how easily I could get sidetracked. Yes, I still indulged in some distractions (like making healthy jam and homemade muesli from The Beauty Chef Cookbook – just a few of many here’s a few more – all made in my Thermomix), but ultimately, I stayed focused (well, most of the time) and got it done.
Accelerating Success with unintentional activities
We all need a little light relief. These moments are called autotelic activities—things we do simply for the joy of being immersed in them. They’re essential because we can’t always be ‘on’. But pushing through the things we don’t want to do is where the real magic happens. Challenges strengthen our medial prefrontal cortex—the part of the brain responsible for executive function and self-governance. So we can thrive and not merely survive.
Comfort Zone is for…comfort
Clarity and confidence doesn’t come from comfort-seeking behaviours. It comes from doing the hard stuff, even when we don’t want to. That’s where the real transformation lies—and it’s totally normal to struggle with it. Tipping the balance in favour of what you want just might be helped by using an alarm to time the distraction. Here’s a reminder from the blog post of the power of now to prioritise your dreams.

In order for things to change, the way you look at things have to change.
I work with you and alongside you as your personal life coach. For years I have been studying human behaviour as it’s vital to know what we do and also what we don’t do that stands in the way of our potential.
Being a life coach and facilitator affords me a very unique outlook in the way people live their lives. I’m extremely fortunate to have a set of skills that allows me to dissolve challenges and also the baggage or ‘bags of age’ that we carry around. These literally take up time and space in your life and when these are negative they can weigh us down and create reactions as well as signs and symptoms. Your mindset is that important.
I'm Mandy.
